Through August 31, 2023
Trexler, Butz, and Goodman Galleries and Trexler Hall
Explore more than 150 works of American art—and their connections to both local and global artistic communities—through our redesigned American galleries. These galleries investigate how trade, colonization, and the migration of people and ideas have shaped our nation’s culture. Recent acquisitions, including contemporary art and works by African American, Latinx, Latin American, and Indigenous artists, play a key role in this narrative. This long-term exhibition also introduces regular rotations of works on paper and textiles, allowing our galleries to change and grow alongside our community.
Rotation 2 brings more than sixty new works into the American galleries, ranging from seventeenth-century Turkish textiles to contemporary art by Alison Saar and Stephen Antonakos. As part of our dynamic program of rotations, these changes help protect light-sensitive works from damage while also making more of our collections available to our community.
